DC Studios
Milly Alcock (‘House of the Dragon’) is one of three candidates to be Supergirl in James Gunn’s DCU
The new DC cinematic universe is already looking for their star for ‘Woman of Tomorrow’, and we already have three candidates to become Supergirl
DC Studios has been building a new DC shared universe devised by James Gunn and Peter Safran for a while. After the closure of the previous stage, the DCEU, with ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, and although the starting signal will not occur until summer 2025 with the premiere of ‘Superman Legacy’ -with the aperitif of this year of ‘Creature Commandos’ in the form of an animated series -, the studio continues creating stories and looking for performers for the rest of the announced projects. Today we have news about none other than ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’, a new version of the Kryptonian superheroine that will unfortunately have nothing to do with Sasha Calle’s Supergirl from ‘The Flash’. And it seems that we already have three candidates to take the role, among them is Milly Alcock, known for her role as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of ‘House of the Dragon’.
The new Supergirl already has three potential actresses
‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ does not even have an announced release date, so it is evident that the machinery of DC Studios is working hard to build their next universe. And Supergirl is a key piece, especially if we take into account the celebrated Kryptonian comic that Gunn intends to adapt. That is why three names have already emerged, three actresses who apparently would be very close to taking on the role, as published by Deadline.
The best known of the trio is none other than Milly Alcock, the Australian actress who rose to fame in 2022 thanks to the first season of ‘House of the Dragon’ and her role as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen during the season’s first half. The second candidate is Meg Donnelly, the protagonist of ‘Zombies’ on Disney Channel and regular voice of Supergirl in different DC animated series. Finally, Emilia Jones is the third candidate for the role, an actress perhaps less known but who has participated in several Oscar-winning films and the ‘Locke & Key’ series on Netflix.
We will have to wait for the official confirmation by to find out who will take on such a desired role; it is even rumored that Supergirl may appear in the form of a cameo in ‘Superman Legacy’, so the official announcement should not take long if we take into account the imminent start of filming for the new Man of Steel film.
