Minecraft Legends will cease development and receive no further content

Mojang clarifies that both PvP and cooperative mode will continue to function normally and that no features will be cut.

Update:
Minecraft Legends

One last update before saying goodbye. Minecraft Legends will not receive any more updates after Snow vs. Snouts, Mojang and Blackbird Studio have announced on the official blog of the series. The strategy game set in the Minecraft universe was released just 9 months ago, time that the developers have invested in improving the product and releasing more content. This means the end of updates and downloadable content.

“Since launch, we’ve listened to community feedback and implemented a series of changes and tweaks to make the game better. With that complete, we’re now going to take a step back from development,” they said in the release. “While we won’t be releasing any new content (i.e. updates, Lost Legends, or Marketplace DLC) for Minecraft Legends, the fun doesn’t stop here.” The developers say they will continue to enjoy the game with fans and will give away one last skin, the Bright-Eyed Hero Skin, which can be claimed on the Marketplace.

Minecraft Legends will not lose functionality

Lost Legends challenges will still be available for free, so players can claim rewards if they win. They will also provide “technical support for players” and “will not remove any of the game’s functionality or features.” Both PvP and co-op modes will remain 100% playable.

“Thank you for following along this heroic journey and helping us make Minecraft Legends the game it is today. With the support of our team, our partners, and the Minecraft community, we’re going to continue exploring the types of games we’re passionate about.” The studio has not hesitated to confirm that there will be “new experiences to the Minecraft universe,” although they have not announced anything concrete.

Minecraft Legends is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Don’t miss our review of the game here.
