Mojang has just revealed a new update for Minecraft Java Edition, The Armored Paws Drop, is now available for the game, bringing it to version 1.20.5 and introducing new wolf variants, armor for your pets, and the debut of Armadillos.
Not only do the Savanna and Bandlands biomes in the overworld get the abovementioned Armadillos, but their debut also means a new kind of loot drop that’ll allow you to craft armor for your Wolf pets for them to be much more resistant in battle, or at the very least, much less prone to dying due to a rogue arrow or a Creeper getting near your home unexpectedly.
Besides the new content, Mojang is also making some changes to how Java Edition spawn chunks work, giving players more control over that detail. If you’re unsure of what this means, it is the way in which the world is generated and loaded at all times. The devs have decreased the default spawn chunk radius by 98%, which means it’ll be a sizeable performance boost for most players.
You’ll find some of the most important patch notes below, and as always you can find the full notes in the official website.
