The MonsterVerse continues to expand with its next iteration: Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, a new and ambitious series that’s coming soon to Apple TV. Virtually nothing was known about it so far, but a first look has captivated fans in a matter of seconds, as it shows us nothing more and nothing less than the iconic -and fearsome- Godzilla. Plus Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell are there too!

The story of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters centers on two brothers who are on the trail of their father, suspecting that their family has a link to Monarch, the secret organization dedicated to investigating the Titans, the monstrous creatures that inhabit the Earth. We will have to wait to find out more about the series, as well as to see its first trailer and find out its release date on Apple TV.

What is the MonsterVerse?

Although some of the characters and monsters that appear have many years of history behind them (King Kong is almost a hundred years old and Godzilla first appeared in 1954),the term MonsterVerse was officially unveiled in 2014, the year in which Godzilla by Gareth Edwards was released. The next movie of this kind of monster crossover is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, whose release date is scheduled for 2024, and its trailer left us wanting to see more of it.

Going back to Monarch: The Monster Legacy, we still don’t know its release date on Apple TV. We probably won’t see it this year, but don’t you think it’s a good time to enjoy the first Godzilla movie? The film is currently available in HBO Max, the streaming platform par excellence as far as classic cinema is concerned.
