Mortal Kombat 1 brings back even more classic characters in a new trailer

Two almost forgotten characters return in Mortal Kombat 1, and NetherRealm Studios shows them off in a new gameplay trailer.

Update:
Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat 1 is back with some new characters with which we will start throwing hands during the month of September, and the latest trailer, titled Banished, brings us three old acquaintances, two of whom the fans might have forgotten about it. One of them is a regular present in the fighter roster of each installment, but both Havik and Ashrah have not been seen in the saga for a while, and their return is something to celebrate.

What new characters are confirmed in Mortal Kombat 1?

The first appearance of Reptile as a playable character dates back to Mortal Kombat 2, and we have seen him evolve from his appearance modeled from that of Sub-Zero and Scorpion, although in green clothing, to one more characteristic of his reptilian personality. In Mortal Kombat 1, as we see in the trailer, which includes a good amount of gameplay footage, we see him turn into a reptilian form for certain special movements or for his Fatality.

On the other hand, Havik debuted in Mortal Kombat Deception (2004), also appeared in Mortal Kombat Armaggedon (2006), and then went into oblivion. In Mortal Kombat 1 he is back with amazing abilities that go beyond his ability to reshape his body, as we also see him amputating limbs and fighting with them, being instantly regenerated. So it’s pretty brutal.

The last one, but probably the most exciting, is Ashrah. Like Havik, she debuted in the same game and last appeared in MK Armaggedon as well. Ashrah introduces herself as a demon from the Quan Chi clan who discovers that, with her sword Kriss, she is able to purify her soul with each kill, making her more and more human. This is how we see her in Mortal Kombat 1, and from which we can also take an extensive look at all her abilities.

Lastly, the trailer also marks the return of Sarerna as a Kameo Fighter, but with no confirmation on if she will be playable, with Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero being her first appearance in the series.

The trailer was shown during the celebration of EVO 2023. Mortal Kombat 1 arrives on September 19 on PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
