Mortal Kombat 1 is getting Scream’s Ghostface as DLC, as well as other classic characters
A leak has revealed Ghostface and other classic fighters of the Mortal Kombat series as part of the upcoming DLC for Mortal Kombat 1.
The datamining community of Mortal Kombat 1 does not stop, and has now revealed that Ghostface, the mythical murderer of the ‘Scream’ movies will come to the game as a DLC fighter. This is one of the main novelties still without an official announcement, and of course they will not come alone. Other fighters from the saga will return with him, such as Noob Saibot and Cassie Cage.

Data miner @thethiny on Twitter/X has obtained information about the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 DLC fighters thanks to dialogues already existing in the game files in the PC version, and that we can also see on the unofficial website, Mortal Kombat Warehouse.
These are several of the Mortal Kombat 1 DLC fighters that have not yet been announced:
- Noob Saibot
- Cyrax (Robot)
- Kotal / He-Man / Conan the Barbarian
- Ghostface
- Unknown Girl
- Jade
- Cassie Cage
- Kung Jin
That “Kotal/He-Man/Conan the Barbarian” draws attention. We understand that the way of listing the three in the same item in the list comes from the fact that the dataminer is not sure if any specific joke or reference belongs to any of these three characters. In any case, one of the big news would be Ghostface, the identity adopted by the antagonists of the ‘Scream’ movies, and whom we could see for the last time in ‘Scream VI’ (2023).
Several of the dialogues concerning Ghostface are already in the game. There’s an Omni-Man intro that reveals the existence in the game of the killer with the mask and the knife from the ‘Scream’ saga: “It takes more than a knife and a mask to scare me”.
Ghostface is not the first horror film icon to arrive in a game in the Mortal Kombat saga; Freddy Krueger was DLC in Mortal Kombat (2011), and Alien, Predator (okay, his saga is not exactly focused on horror), Leatherface and Jason Voorhees were downloadable content for Mortal Kombat X (2015).
When is Mortal Kombat 1 releasing and what platforms is it available on?
Mortal Kombat 1 goes on sale on September 19, 2023, and is available for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The Premium and Collector’s editions of the game allow access to it from September 14, 2023.
