N SYNC’s ‘Bye Bye Bye’ already annoyed Wolverine years before ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’

NSYNC’s pop anthem was already a part of the Fox mutant universe, which means that their appearance in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ completes a 20-year-old circle.

Deadpool y Lobezno NSYNC Bye Bye Bye

Deadpool and Wolverine’ will be remembered for many things, from its hilarious parade of cameos and characters from the past and cheeky debuts to the possibility of finally seeing Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine with the classic yellow suit from the comics, mask with white eyes included. And of course, you get the constant Deadpool meta jokes and its spectacular action scenes, especially those in which they face the Merc with a Mouth with the grumpy mutant with adamantium claws. Although without a doubt, its spectacular opening credits scene to the rhythm of N SYNC will go down in history as one of the most unexpected, hilarious, and fun. Although the famous pop song was already present in Fox’s mutant universe many years before, and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine didn’t like it very much...

N SYNC’s ‘Bye Bye Bye’ was already played in 2003′s ‘X-Men 2′

So, as die-hard Marvel fans will remember, the song ‘Bye Bye Bye’ by N SYNC already had a small ‘cameo’ -so to speak- in Fox’s mutant universe. The pop song from one of the biggest boy bands ever can be heard in a scene from ‘X-Men 2′ from 2003, specifically, one in which Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, along with other students from Charles Xavier’s mutant school like Rogue, flee aboard a sports car.

Funnily enough they make their escape aboard Cyclops’ Mazda RX-8, painted in blue, and which Wolverine starts with one of his adamantium claws instead of the keys, thus taking the opportunity to tear the interior of his “colleague”'s car a little. In this way, while they flee along a road, Pyro turns on the car radio because he “doesn’t like awkward silences.” It is at this moment when ‘Bye Bye Bye’ by NSYNC plays at full volume.

Although we only listen to the song for a few seconds, since it doesn’t seem to be much to the liking of Wolverine and the rest of the vehicle’s occupants, turning off the player quickly after making a grim face. Thus, the circle between both films is closed, with ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ resorting to the same pop theme to give us one of the most memorable intros of recent times, we do not know if for rhythmic convenience or also as one more self-reference or wink to the previous Marvel films by Fox.
