It’s finally happening: Naruto is officially getting a live-action adaptation at Hollywood, and it even has a director that fits the role perfectly.

Update:

Naruto’ is the latest anime/manga to confirm a live-action version, and it will be in the form of a film with prominent director Destin Daniel Cretton, who has previously directed films such as ‘Shang-Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings’. Cretton will direct, produce and write the script for the film based on the worldwide hit by Masashi Kishimoto, one of the most popular manga and anime in history.

The arrival of ‘Naruto’ to live action follows a notable phenomenon in recent times, with ‘One Piece’ and ‘Yu Yu Hakusho’ leaving good feelings on Netflix and demonstrating that this type of adaptation can be made with quality. The question is to see how it will fit into a movie format, as Kishimoto’s work is extensive, but the possibility of adapting one of the first arcs is what may fit the most in this first film.

The opinion of Masashi Kishimoto and the fans to a live-action ‘Naruto’

Masashi Kishimoto is the creator of ‘Naruto’, who has approved the film and has also confirmed that he will be involved in its production: “When I found out about the hiring of Destin Daniel Cretton it was right after seeing one of his highest-grossing action films, and I thought he would be the perfect director for ‘Naruto’. After enjoying his other films and understanding that his forte is creating solid dramas about people, I became convinced that there is no other director for ‘Naruto’. Upon meeting him, he seemed like an open-minded director, willing to accept my contributions, and I had the firm conviction that we could cooperate together in the production process.”

The reaction on the internet from fans to Kishimoto’s work has not been long in coming, with doubts such as the fact of how they will adapt Naruto and the rest of the running characters, one of the characteristics of the work that will not be easy to adapt to the format live action. Many are wondering what arc they will adapt, and a series the size of ‘Naruto’ is not easy to imagine in live-action film format, so the arc that seems to fit best is that of Land of Waves, the first in the series and which, due to its length, is presented as the ideal candidate. Furthermore, along with the prologue it is the beginning of everything and has memorable villains and moments.
