‘Naruto’ live-action movie moves forward as Lionsgate opens worldwide casting call
The studio is looking for actors to play Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura as Team 7 prepares for its Hollywood debut.
The live-action ‘Naruto’ movie is still in development at Lionsgate, and the search for the members of the famous Team 7 will begin soon.
This was revealed by the official Naruto account on social media (via Lionsgate’s account). A global casting call will be held for the film to find actors who can bring Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura to life.

For now, the film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (’Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,’ ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’), while the screenplay, written by Taha Huo, has been completed since 2024. The film is currently still in pre-production, and given how long it has taken to develop, there is no scheduled release date.

In launching the casting call on social media, Cretton said, “Kishimoto-sensei’s stories have inspired generations of fans around the world, and it’s an honor to bring his world and characters to the big screen in live action for the very first time. I’m thrilled to kick off this worldwide casting search for our Team 7 and to bring the incredible universe of Naruto to life!”
