NBA 2K23 simulates the 2023 NBA Finals: Denver Nuggets or Miami Heat?
NBA 2K23 predicts the outcome of the NBA Finals starting this afternoon.
The NBA Finals of the 2022/23 season will start this afternoon between the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat, in a final that is not only unprecedented in history, but also completely surprising. Not because of Nikola Jokic’s team, but because of the heroics of the Florida team, which became the second team to reach the Finals after finishing eighth in its conference and after losing the first play-in game.
As usual, Visual Concepts has simulated the outcome of these finals, which begin with Colorado as favorites, but according to NBA 2K23, which we will be able to play through PS Plus, this season will not fail to surprise us. In fact, this simulation gives the Miami Heat as winners of the Larry O’Brien in seven games, although it is particularly shocking how the first four games are won by the visiting team, including a beating to Miami in the second by no less than 40 points. The MVP would of course be Jimmy Butler, who would finish an amazing playoffs with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists in the final playoffs.
Other curious predictions, successful... and not so successful
As much as the result may surprise us, we must remember that NBA 2K22 already predicted the winner of the 2022 Finals, when the Golden State Warriors were crowned champions for the fourth time against the Boston Celtics. In addition, it also predicted the overall result of the Finals, as the Bay Area team won the title in 6 games, just as the video game predicted.
Strangely enough, other video games have been right recently, as FIFA 23 predicted that Argentina would win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, even though Brazil would be in the final instead of France. Madden has had worse luck, living up to its reputation as a jinx, and even though football is the least predictable sport in the world, EA’s franchise has failed to deliver in the last two years. In the 2021 Super Bowl, it predicted the Cincinnati Bengals to win - the Los Angeles Rams did - and the Philadelphia Eagles to win - the Kansas City Chiefs did.
