Update:

One Piece’ is now fully immersed in the Elbaph arc, a territory that fans have been eagerly awaiting for decades. Both the manga and the anime have finally reached the land of the giants, and the events continue to intensify. Shocking appearances like Imu’s have ramped up the narrative tension, but Chapter 1182 has managed to surprise even the most seasoned readers with the introduction of Zaza, the God of Rain.

It seemed unthinkable that the focus of ‘One Piece’ would shift beyond Imu, but Chapter 1182 does just that with the character of Zaza. The story shows Killingham, one of the Knights of God, claiming that he has summoned what he fears most, bringing a nightmare born of his own fears to life through his ability. This revelation is directed at a visibly terrified Sommers, and makes it clear that those who dwell above the clouds fear the Rain God just as much—or even more, as in Killingham’s case—as they do the D clan and the Sun God, Nika.

Who is the God of Rain in One Piece?

The World Government and the Tenryūbito fear Zaza, the God of Rain. He is an entity directly linked to water, the natural enemy of Devil Fruit users, making him a potentially devastating threat to Imu and those around him. The name that immediately comes to mind as a possible bearer of this ability is Monkey D. Dragon, father of Monkey D. Luffy, son of Monkey D. Garp, supreme commander of the Revolutionary Army, and the world’s most wanted criminal.

Dragon remains one of the most enigmatic figures in the story, making only sporadic appearances throughout the narrative, and whose silhouette and presence are strikingly reminiscent of Zaza’s nightmare—one that Killingham has brought to life.

Why is the Rain God named Zaza? In Japanese, the onomatopoeia for the sound of heavy or steady rain is written in katakana as ザザ (Zaza). This appears alongside a key panel during Dragon’s appearance in Loguetown, reinforcing the connection between the two concepts. Everything points to the end of One Piece being closer than many believe, with constant revelations and the reintroduction of divine figures that directly reference the Skypiea arc, where the existence of the God of the Sun, the God of Rain, the God of the Forest, and the God of the Earth was already mentioned.
