Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender unveils its first trailer

After much anticipation and months since its last appearance, the world of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is back in a new trailer.

Update:
Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender unveils its first trailer

It’s been 2 months since we first saw a video of the upcoming live-action adaptation of the world created by Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Finally, we have a longer look at the movie, which shows real promise.

The Avatar is back in it’s first trailer

The trailer gives us a good summary of the beginning of Aang and company’s adventure (Book 1: Water) to save the world from the Fire Nation, as well as showing us the different bending styles that exist and the impressive beings that inhabit this world. The musical themes still have the same vibe as the original series and everything looks like it will do live-action justice to Avatar.

The official synopsis of the Avatar: The Last Airbender reads: “The four nations of the world once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world. AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, follows a young Air Nomad named Aang, as he reawakens to a world ravaged by war. Together with his newfound friends Sokka and Katara, he embarks on an action-packed quest to take his rightful place as the next AVATAR.”

The show will star Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai.

Avatar The Last Airbender will arrive on Netflix on February 22nd, 2024.

More Avatar content in development

Co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino, who were originally attached to the live-action series, left the project in 2020. It was later announced that 3 animated films inspired by the series would be developed by Avatar Studios, with the first film to be released in October 2025, directed by Lauren Montgomery.
