Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ reveals 4 new cast members for Season 2, including a very recognizable face

The filming of the second season of ‘One Piece’ has already started and Netflix wanted to get ahead of the leaks by announcing some of the actors who will participate in it. Specifically, the platform has made several of the members of Baroque Works, the criminal organization which the Straw Hats will have to face on this occasion, known to the public.

Although they have not yet shared the names that arouse the most expectations (Robin, Vivi, or Crocodile), Netflix has confirmed a very important one. It is Mr. 3, the first villain of the story arc, the man who almost left Zoro without legs. Knowing its importance, it seems like the production wanted to sign on a Hollywood regular such as David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man in ‘The Suicide Squad’ by James Gunn).

The presence of the actor, whom you may have seen in films like ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Ant-Man’, ‘Blade Runner 2049′, ‘Oppenheimer’ and the recent ‘Late Night with the Devil’, is exciting for many reasons. The first is his talent, of course, and the second and most important is because it opens the door for other more than established actors to join the project. And yes, we are referring to Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Kureha (remembering that she herself has already declared her love for ‘One Piece’ to the world).

The best thing about it is that Netflix seems aware of the importance of Mr. 3 in the series. Although the character will have a key role in this second season, he will be even more fundamental in a certain prison break that we hope to visit in the future, and that might not come until seasons 4 or 5.

Furthermore, the decision to hire Dastmalchian is even more perfect when we remember that the actor also declared himself a fan of ‘One Piece’ in an interview and assured that he would do anything to be part of the live-action series, because he considers it tremendously well done. Would these words have reached Oda’s ears? Will the author have personally taken charge of the casting again?
