New ‘Joker 2: Folie à Deux’ Trailer Reveals Love Story Between Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga (Harley Quinn)

With Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, full nudity and more than 15 musical numbers, this sequel looks to be even more daring and original than the first installment.

One fine day, Todd Phillips, the director of The Hangover saga, got out of bed and said: “I’m going to change superhero movies forever.” He asked Warner for $55 million (which may sound like a lot, but it’s a third of what the Batman movies cost) and made a movie without masks, capes or tights. He cast a great, great actor (Joaquin Phoenix) and wrote all kinds of philosophical and existentialist speeches. Because Phillips wanted to make an auteur movie, but also a genre movie. He wanted it to be realistic, intimate, but accessible to the general public. “I will even convince Robert De Niro to participate at the age of 75″. And far from taking his fearful steps, he decided to present himself. He went to the Venice Film Festival, won the Golden Lion and catapulted the protagonist and composer of his film to the Academy Award. Thus was born the first part of ‘Joker’, one of the best comic book movies ever made.

In the new trailer for his sequel, ‘Joker 2: Folie à Deux’, Phillips proves that he’s not one to shy away from anything. Not satisfied with what he has achieved, which is no small feat, the director has decided to up the ante and go even further. Phillips has tried to be even more daring and original, avoiding the easy way out to please the legion of fans (or crazy fans) of the original movie. Instead, he has completely turned the rudder back and headed into uncharted territory. Now he has asked for a bag of dollar signs, convinced Lady Gaga of his madness, and jumped into the void by betting on the first superhero musical in the history of cinema.

That’s why this second trailer of the sequel is at the same time everything we expected and what we never imagined. A risky proposition that makes ‘Joker 2: Folie à Deux’ one of the most anticipated movies of the year, inside and outside the superhero genre. Full of violence, swearing, full nudity and more than 15 musical numbers. It will arouse as many passions for as against. But whatever the outcome, the truth is that no one should miss it on October 4, 2024.
