Joker: Folie à Deux director reveals our first look of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn
Todd Phillips, director of Joker Folie à Deux has shared our first official look of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn in the upcoming sequel.
Valentine's Day is well past for all of us, and for some it will have passed with more sorrow than glory, but Todd Phillips, director of Joker: Folie à Deux wanted to cheer us up in the best possible way. As we already know, in the role of the criminally insane Harley Quinn will be Lady Gaga, who we’ve been dying to see characterized as the DC villain and partner of the Joker… A wish Phillips finally satisfied.
The director shared this image on his Instagram account, and in it we can see Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, who returns for the role of Arthur Fleck (Joker), after winning the Oscar for Best Actor in 2020, when the film was nominated for no less than 11 awards. This sequel will be a musical film, so the curiosity to see what this couple is capable of grows as the first trailer approaches.
How does Joker 2 connect to the new DC Universe?
Quite simply: it doesn't. Now the ringleader of the DC Universe is James Gunn, and he’s come in like a wrecking ball canceling a multitude of movies and series, as well as doing without actors who are much beloved by the public, being the case of Henry Cavill the most prominent. However, considering that the Snyderverse had already been completely exhausted and the world of DC needed a breath of fresh air, it might be for a good reason.
Within this connected universe that Gunn wants to start with, there are movies that will release but not be a part of it. This is the case not only with Joker: Folie a Deux, but also with the recently confirmed The Batman 2, with Robert Pattinson. It is yet to be confirmed who will be the new Batman for the main universe, and as of now there haven’t even been any rumors about potential casting..
