New Mortal Kombat game would be a next-gen reboot: name, price and platforms

Mortal Kombat 1 is the title of the new installment of the famous fighting game franchise. A reboot of the story only for next-generation consoles.

Billbil-Kun, the person who leaks the free PlayStation Plus games every month (without fail), continues to expand his network of information and has just released a new exclusive regarding the next Mortal Kombat. The first official teaser of the game hinted at a reboot of the story, and that is exactly what the insider has confirmed. We are looking at a reboot for the new generation that will be called Mortal Kombat 1 (yes, like Battlefield 1).

According to the leaker, this Mortal Kombat 1 would reset the entire Ed Boon saga (again, considering the reboot that happened on the ninth entry of the franchise) and would be next-gen only (it would be released for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox X Series X|S). Billbil-kun even dares to talk about three editions (Standard, Premium and Kollector, the latter costing $250).

Homelander and Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat 1?

While waiting for the official announcement, two of the names that would be included in the roster of fighters of this new installment came to the forefront a few weeks ago. None other than Homelander, (the great villain of The Boys, Prime Video’s superhero series) and the Peacemaker (the version of John Cena who appeared in the last Suicide Squad movie and who has his own series on HBO Max).

The origin of the rumor was Jez Corden, editor of Windows Central, who hinted at the possibility on his social media accounts, commenting that he had heard things here and there. It may all come to nothing, but Mortal Kombat is a franchise used to cameos and crossovers, so never say never. For example, in Mortal Kombat 11 we have the Joker, Robocop, Terminator, Rambo, and Spawn, among others. Who would be your dream character?
