Update:

After several months of rumors about a possible delay and even a hypothetical cancellation, new official images of Nicolas Cage in Spider-Noir,’ the upcoming series about Marvel’s popular wall-crawler that will be exclusive to Prime Video, have been released. In this new live-action adaptation of ‘Spider-Man,’ Cage plays Ben Reilly, a private detective who must deal with his past as the only superhero in 1930s New York. It is a radical reinterpretation of the wall-crawler myth, drawing directly from the best film noir.

Nicolas Cage surprises in new images from ‘Spider-Noir’ as Ben Reilly, the detective Spidey of the Great Depression

On February 11, 2026, Esquire magazine revealed a new look at ‘Spider-Noir’, a new series from MGM+ and Prime Video that does not yet have a clear release date beyond saying it will arrive “soon.” Nicolas Cage stars in this adaptation of the 1930s version of the Marvel Comics character. In the snapshots, we can see him portrayed both as private investigator Ben Reilly dressed in period clothing and as the Spider-Man of his time.

To celebrate its noir aesthetic, in addition to the original color snapshots, black-and-white versions of the same images have also been shared. Based on the preview shown in May 2025 and other production details such as the use of monochrome cameras, it is known that the series will be broadcast entirely in black and white. Fans of the character have celebrated these new snapshots, and initial reactions have been mostly positive.

‘Spider-Noir’ will have eight episodes and was filmed between August 2024 and March 2025. Its showrunners are Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal). Apart from Cage, the other confirmed main cast members are Lamome Morris as Robbie Robertson, Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, Abraham Popoola as a World War I veteran, Jack Huston as Flint Marko, Karen Rodriguez as Janet, and Lukas Haas as one of Silvermane’s henchmen.

With its striking and radical aesthetic approach and a strong cast led by Nicolas Cage playing a weary, dark Spider-Man marked by his past, ‘Spider-Noir’ aims to become one of the most unique and daring reinterpretations of the Marvel universe in live action. If it successfully translates the pulp atmosphere and twilight tone conveyed by its images to the screen, the series could be much more than a mere curiosity: a twist on the wall-crawler myth that is as peculiar as it is interesting, with a main character plunged into the shadows and whose worst enemy may be himself.
