New trailer for The Marvels raises the epic, action-packed stakes with the return of Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson

Marvel Studios has released the second trailer for The Marvels, its next film as part of the MCU scheduled to hit theaters next November. A new trailer, which you can see after this paragraph, bets decidedly on action and epic after a first glimpse a few months ago. And beyond the numerous action sequences, we know something more of the plot with the return in style of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury after the events of Secret Invasion, a series that will premiere its last episode next week and in which Fury is the main protagonist.

Direct sequel to Secret Invasion

It was recently confirmed that The Marvels will be a direct sequel to the events of the Secret Invasion series, although we have yet to know exactly how it will be set up as we await its final chapter. Anyway, we see a Captain Marvel more powerful than ever, known as the “Annihilator” of space. Alongside her, we have Photon from the WandaVision series and Kamala Khan from the Ms. Marvel series, three superheroines who will have to join forces - never better said - to face a new galactic threat.

“Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels,” reads the official synopsis.

The Marvels will be released on November 10, 2023.
