New trailer for ‘The Penguin’, the series that will bring ‘The Godfather’ to the ‘Batman’ universe

Colin Farrell stars as Oz Cobb in the new chapter of The Batman universe coming to Max in September.

With each new trailer for ‘The Penguin’, Warner Bros.’ intentions become clearer: to turn the mythical Batman villain into a modern-day Vito Corleone. The series takes a dark and direct tone about the relationship between Gotham’s underworld families, with Colin Farrell’s character at the center. Although it does not yet have a specific premiere date, it is known that it will arrive sometime next September on Max. You can watch the video below.

The series will tell, in eight episodes, the new chapter of the ‘Batman’ universe that began with Matt Reeves’ 2022 film (which will soon have a sequel). The director of ‘Let the Right One In’ (2010) and ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ (2014) will see his characters continue to develop the arcs of his feature film.

Lauren LeFranc will step behind the camera as showrunner. In the past, she was known for doing the same for 48 episodes of ‘Agents of SHIELD’ (2013-2016), in addition to her work on the series ‘Impulse’ (2018). Her extensive experience will allow her to accurately capture the sordid world that good old Cobb travels through. The first three episodes will be directed by Craig Zobel, who has worked on successful series such as ‘American Gods’ (2017), ‘Westworld’ (2018) and ‘Mare of Easttown’ (2021). Heavyweight names for a relevant series in Max’s calendar.

Colin Farrell will not be alone. As Oz Cobb, he will be surrounded by an exceptional cast including Cristin Milioti (Sofia Falcone), Scott Cohen (Luca Falcone), Michael Zegen (Alberto Falcone), Rhenzy Feliz (Victor Aguilar), Michael Kelly (Johnny Viti), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Nobody Maroni), Deirdre O’Connell (Francis Cobb), Clancy Brown (Salvatore Maroni), Scott Cohen (Luca Falcone), James Madio (Milos Grappa), Carmen Ejogo (Eve Karlo) and Theo Rossi (Dr. Julian Rush), among others.
