Team Ninja
Ninja Gaiden 4 is announced by Team Ninja and Platinum Games
“The Year of the Ninja” will give us more games than expected.

Xbox Developer Direct 2025 kicks off with a bang as Team Ninja announces the return of one of gaming’s most legendary franchises. After years of rumors, Ninja Gaiden 4 is officially announced as the first new installment in the franchise in 10 years, in a joint venture with PlatinumGames.
The story of Ninja Gaiden 4 immerses us in a Tokyo completely devastated by the rain of black rot caused by the Black Dragon, and puts us in the role of Yakumo, a young ninja from the Raven Clan, rivals of the Hayabusa Clan, who throws himself into battle to defeat the Black Dragon and bring peace to the world. The dark and hardcore atmosphere of the franchise is maintained to the fullest, not avoiding details in a title where blood and dismemberment are the protagonists.
The perfect touch of PlatinumGames and Team Ninja are shown in the trailer of the game, with moments of action that seem to be taken from NieR: Automata itself, while others in which we manage Ryu Hayabusa are much closer to the classic style of the saga in 3D.
For now, there are no details on its release date, but everything suggests that it will arrive for Xbox Series X|S, PC and PS5 in the fall of 2025, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass from the day of its release.
A surprise release is now available
Along with this announcement, Team Ninja also revealed that the classic Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, an enhanced version of the classic game originally released in 2008 for Xbox 360, will be getting a remake in Unreal Engine 5. You won’t have to wait long, as the game is available today, January 23, as part of Xbox Game Pass for consoles and PC.
