Nintendo delays The Legend of Zelda movie, but Miyamoto reassures fans with a clear message
The creator of the saga assures that they need more time to make this adaptation as good as possible.

The highly anticipated live-action film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda has officially been delayed. Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed this news by sharing a direct message with fans through Nintendo’s social networks. Although the exact reason for the delay has not been specified, it appears that the decision is motivated by a clear objective: to ensure the project’s maximum quality.
“For production reasons, we are changing the release date of the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027. It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it can be. Thank you for your patience,” Miyamoto explained, in a reassuring tone.
A small delay in pursuit of making a great movie
As indicated by the creator of Zelda, this delay is only seven weeks and does not involve a major readjustment in the schedule. The first reactions from fans are being quite positive, encouraging Nintendo and Sony to take all the time it takes to faithfully adapt Link’s adventures to the big screen. With ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’, Nintendo proved that it knows how to adapt its franchises with respect, ambition and spectacularity. Therefore, they have the public’s trust when it comes to creating an ambitious Zelda live action.
The feature film is being developed by Nintendo in collaboration with Sony Pictures, and will be directed by Wes Ball (‘The Maze Runner’, ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’). And so far, we still don’t know details about the plot or the cast. Who would you like to see playing Link, Zelda and Ganondorf?
