Video game soundtracks are an important part of many gamers’ lives. Whether they remind us of a special moment or the sound of the chords motivates us to go that extra mile, both in the game and in real life. Nintendo’s video game music is no exception, with tunes that have long been a part of gamers’ lives. Although getting these songs online has been a problem due to copyright issues, this afternoon Nintendo announced Nintendo Music, an app for smart devices that will allow us to listen to the songs from our favorite games even when offline.
What is Nintendo Music and what does it include?
Nintendo Music is an app that lets you listen to songs from Nintendo video games, either streamed or downloaded for offline listening, bringing music from titles like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Pikmin, Metroid, Donkey Kong Country and more to the palm of your hand. While not all titles are currently listed, Nintendo revealed that more music will be added over time.
The app lets you create and share playlists, search for music by different categories like consoles, franchises, games and more. If you need background music, you can choose songs that loop and extend the track up to 1 hour. Yes, if you want an hour of Wii Mii Plaza, you can leave it on loop all the time. Another interesting feature of this app is that if a track has a spoiler in its title, you can choose to block out what it says with one of the options.
When will Nintendo Music be released and how much will it cost?
Nintendo Music is available today in the United States on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Availability in other countries is unknown.
Access to Nintendo Music requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account. Remember that the price for an individual Nintendo Switch Online membership is $3.99 per month and $20.00 per year.
