Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Direct confirms duration and the return of a beloved format

Nintendo has a plan with Switch 2 and through it passes the return of one of the star formats of the E3 era.

Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo’s future is just around the corner. After a long wait, the company will finally reveal its next console, the Switch 2, in a Nintendo Direct scheduled for April 2 this year. With the event just hours away, new details about what to expect from the presentation have emerged.

The length of the Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Direct

Through a publication on its official X account, Nintendo confirmed that Direct focused on its new console, which would last “approximately 60 minutes.” For reference, the presentation of its predecessor was extended for about 68 minutes, although in a more traditional format, different from the dynamic and direct style that characterizes these events today.

The time allotted makes sense, as the event will focus on the improvements and new features of an overhaul that builds on the previous generation, rather than unveiling an entirely new console from the ground up. In addition to hardware, the Direct will also highlight software, with improved games and new experiences from both Nintendo’s internal studios and third-party developers.

The return of Nintendo Treehouse Live

Another big surprise is the return of Nintendo Treehouse Live, the format the company used during the E3 era. This special livestream will focus on providing a more in-depth look at the games presented during the Direct, with gameplay sessions and interviews with their developers. Nintendo Treehouse Live will take place on April 3 and 4, beginning at 7:00 a.m. PT.
