Nintendo Switch 2 will arrive later than expected and won't be released in 2024

Some would say that good things come to those who wait, but the arrival of the Switch’s successor is on track to take much longer than expected.  Indeed, Nintendo has not officially announced anything and everything is part of speculations and supposed leaks. The company will keep the focus of its business on the hybrid until 2024 and will continue to release software for its current machine. According to sources from Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe, Nintendo’s next console has been delayed and it will not be available until 2025, although it will be marketed before the end of the next fiscal year (March 31 next year).

Several international media have already confirmed this information with their sources. According to VGC, Nintendo has informed publishers that the console will be released in the first quarter of 2025, a few months later than planned. One of these publishers’ sources has pointed out that the creators of Super Mario want to guarantee a strong catalog of first-party games for the launch, an important part of the launch strategy of its predecessor.

Nintendo remains silent for now

Bloomberg’s sources have also confirmed something similar: “Nintendo is telling game publishers that its next-generation console will be delayed until early 2025″. Therefore, “it is not expected until March 2025 at the earliest.” For its part, Nintendo has refused to comment, neither confirming nor denying the leaks.

The Nintendo Switch was released in March 2017 alongside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Since then, the console has become one of the company’s biggest successes, with more than 139 million units sold to date. While there is no official data on its successor, and everything so far has been leaks and rumors, it is expected to feature an LCD screen and be backwards compatible with current titles.
