Nintendo talks about the price of Switch 2 and says: “We are aware that inflation is currently rising”

President Shuntaro Furukawa takes this factor into account, as well as the philosophy of releasing an affordable product.

Update:

April 2nd is an important date for Nintendo Switch. The Japanese company will reveal its plans for the new console, so it is expected that this Nintendo Direct will be the one where the release date and price will be announced. For now, gamers will have to make do with the words that President Shuntaro Furukawa delivered to his shareholders. During the Q&A session, the Japanese executive mentioned the issue of pricing and gave some hints.

Inflation on the rise, but it’s not all bad news

According to Furukawa, they will take into account the economic situation in Japan, but at the same time they will make sure that the console is affordable for their customers. The truth is that the rise in inflation changes the picture and predicts that the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 will be higher than that of the previous machine, something that catches no one by surprise. However, the president has said that the new hardware will have the level of “affordable prices that customers expect from Nintendo products”. Beyond that, the company’s top official said he had nothing more to say at this time.

What about the Nintendo Switch, will the price drop? Furukawa ruled out a downgrade and assured that there are no plans to lower the price of the console for the time being.

Nintendo Switch 2 will go on sale sometime in 2025. In the absence of knowing the catalog of games, it has already been confirmed that there will be a new Mario Kart.
