No more rumors: Matt Damon confirms there will be a new Jason Bourne movie—and he has a goal in mind
The sixth installment of this legendary spy-action franchise could announce its director very soon.

In the midst of his world tour to promote ‘The Odyssey,’ Matt Damon has made sure to put an end to the rumors about the future of his most iconic film series. In an interview with ESPN, the famous actor confirmed that he is already in talks to reprise his role as Jason Bourne in a sixth installment, a film that reportedly already has a director lined up.
According to Damon, he is currently discussing the project with German screenwriter and filmmaker Edward Berger, known for directing ‘Conclave’ and ‘All Quiet on the Western Front.’ So far, they haven’t finalized any details about the film’s plot, but both are clear that they want it to live up to the original trilogy. “We’re trying to nail the story down because I’d love to do it. It’s just that thing where, you know, if we do it, we want it to be like the first three,” the actor said.
Why is ‘Jason Bourne 6’ taking so long to come out?
On another note, Matt Damon explained why there haven’t been more movies in the Bourne series since the release of ‘Jason Bourne’ in 2016, comparing its situation to that of the ‘James Bond’ franchise. “And it’s tough because it’s not built like a James Bond, where every movie is its own mission and people can even change the character, you know, the person playing Bond. It’s a linear story, so it makes it more challenging to do a sequel where you’re giving people what they want but also enough new stuff. It’s a tricky one You have to give the audience exactly what they expect from the character, but also bring enough new elements to make it worthwhile.”

Interestingly, this isn’t the only news about Bourne that has come out in recent weeks. Recently, a prominent Hollywood insider claimed that Zendaya could star in the next installment of the franchise, which would serve as a reboot. However, the actor’s latest statements seem to contradict this information. In any case, it appears that Jason Bourne’s future is practically assured.
