It’s been an interesting few weeks since the Early Access release of No Rest for the Wicked, Moon Studios’ newest title that was launched with lofty promises of reinventing genres and that takes inspiration from games like Dark Souls and Diablo. Releasing on April 18 to a mixed response, the game launched with a myriad of performance issues, bugs, and a lack of expected features for the genre. Almost two weeks after, the team has already delivered several fixes that bring the game to a more presentable level.
Moon Studios announced the release of the No Rest for the Wicked Early Access Hotfix 6 patch, their biggest update so far, which brings with it improvements to performance, balance, loot tables, graphics, and a variety of new options in the Settings menu that deal with previously reported bugs that prevented progression at certain spots during the experience. Aside from that, the devs have focused on optimization for several aspects of the game, including several visual effects, area streaming/loading, and memory optimization.
Moon Studios’ CEO, Thomas Mahler, also took to Twitter/X to speak about the game’s reception and to tell players to “hang tight” as they work their way up to a full release.”We understand that people paid good money to play Wicked, so they expect a good experience on their machines from the get-go. We already released a few optimization fixes with more dramatic changes on the way! Joining us on our Early Access journey means that you’ll get all the improvements, content updates and fixes until we release 1.0, so just hang tight, we’ll make sure that you’ll get an excellent product (while being able to give us direct feedback, we’re listening!).”
Since I get spammed now from people who are confused about why we have mixed reviews on Steam when they hear great things about Wicked... let me try to break it down so I don't have to copy and paste anymore! 👍
1) Localization came in extremely hot and we had an initial bug…
Below, you’ll find the complete patch notes for Hotfix 6. There are plenty of upgrades over the previous version already, which gives us hope that Moon Studios will be able to deliver an amazing experience just as they had previously done so with the Ori games.
