One Nintendo fan is planning to line up for the Switch 2 launch two months early, but there’s a catch
YouTuber ChickenDog begins his long wait for the Nintendo Switch 2 by camping out outside the New York store two months before launch.

Last week, Nintendo unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2, the console that will continue the legacy of the original Switch. And while the reception was mixed, that hasn’t stopped the most passionate fans from getting ready to get their hands on the new console.
First in line for Nintendo Switch 2
One of them is YouTuber ChickenDog, who has already become known as the “first person” to line up for the Nintendo Switch 2 at the official Nintendo store in New York. He began his wait on April 5, 2025, exactly two months before the scheduled June 5 launch. ChickenDog plans to “camp out” and document the entire experience.
Although he says he’s “camping,” there’s a catch. It’s actually a more flexible approach: he’s booked an Airbnb and a hotel, and he has friends in the area who help him keep his place in order when he’s not there.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this kind of fanaticism from the Nintendo community. There is a history of people camping out for weeks - and even an entire month - for major releases like the original Switch. ChickenDog seems to be following this tradition, but taking advantage of his status as a public figure.
Nintendo Switch 2 prices won’t change
For now, everything indicates that tariffs won’t affect the prices of Nintendo Switch 2. Although Nintendo delayed the pre-sales in the United States and Canada, it recently updated its official website, confirming that the prices remain the same: $450 for the console and $499 with the bundle with Mario Kart World. The release date is still June 5.
