‘One Piece’ announces its remake and will be in charge of Wit Studio and Netflix
The One Piece is a reality, a long-awaited new anime adaptation that will take the series’ beginnings to a higher level of quality.
In 2024, it will be 25 years since the release of the anime ‘One Piece’, an animated adaptation that began in 1999 and continues to this day. Eiichiro Oda’s titanic work is still going strong, and to everyone’s surprise, a remake was announced at Jump Festa 2024: ‘The One Piece’. Wit Studio is the animation studio responsible for this new adaptation of what many consider to be the best shonen manga in history, and Netflix is the platform where we can enjoy this remake.
As with the live-action series, Netflix is betting big on ‘One Piece’. From what we can see in the presentation trailer, everything suggests that this remake will first show us ‘Romance Dawn’, the first arc of the series, which in the original anime takes up the first three chapters. Romance Dawn is set in three different locations: Dawn Island, Goat Island, and Shells Town. Luffy’s childhood, his confrontation with Alvida, and finally, with Captain Morgan. Short but intense, and with this new version he wants to make us feel excited.
‘One Piece’ and a remake that aims high
It’s been 25 years since anime began, and the animation of its early days may seem outdated, but a series that never stops growing tries to reach more people in all aspects. Wit Studio is a guarantee of quality, and the studio is best known for its work on series such as ‘Shingeki no Kyojin’ during its first three seasons, as well as other successful anime such as ‘Ranking of Kings’, ‘Spy x Family’ or ‘Vinland Saga’.
We will have to wait and see how far this project goes, and we do not know if the intention is to remake the entire work as a whole or very specific parts of the series. For now, we have to wait and dream about Romance Dawn.
