One Piece Live-Action shows first teaser and announces release date

Luffy and the rest of the straw hats are ready for the Grand Line in this teaser, showing what the world created by Eiichirō Oda will look like.

Nakamas, the wait has been long, but finally, as part of TUDUM, Netflix’s big event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, we get the first preview of the One Piece live-action, which also gives us a preview of its release date. Don’t wait any longer and check it out below:

Just yesterday we were able to get a first look at some of the costumes, props and even Going Merry himself as part of an exhibition dedicated to this adaptation. The main cast (or rather crew) will include Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibbs as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.

One Piece will be released on Netflix on August 31st next year and will include a total of 8 episodes, adapting the East Blue saga.

Eiichiro Oda’s open letter about the series

Just last month, author Eiichiro Oda released an open letter related to this adaptation in which he revealed where they are in production and how long it will be before it sees the light of day.

A somewhat melodramatic letter in which the Mangaka explains that although there were times when it was difficult to make himself understood, everyone was on the same page in the end and confirms that nothing will come out without his final approval.

Oda opens his heart and assures that he sees this One Piece series as the last chance of his life to make One Piece known all over the world. But no one should be afraid for him as he is only 48 years old. Oda has already made it clear that we are in the final saga of the manga, that the final war is coming, and that he wants to retire in the short to medium term and travel and discover the world.
