‘One Piece’ season 3 adds Tony winner Cole Escola as Bon Clay
Update:

The live-action adaptation of 'One Piece‘ continues to prepare for what will be its third season. And although we already have some actors confirmed for this season, which will take us straight to Arabasta, the cast continues to grow, with the latest revelation being the actor who will bring one of the anime’s most beloved characters to life.

Netflix has revealed that Cole Escola has joined season 3 of One Piece to play Bon Clay in the anime and manga adaptation. Part of the Baroque Works criminal group, Clay holds the title of Mr. 2 in the organization, being one of the highest-ranking members and a major villain in the arc. The character description reads as follows: “A master of performance and precision, Bon Clay is as dangerous as they are dazzling — a theatrical assassin who turns combat into art.”

For their part, Escola is a non-binary actor and writer with experience in theater, playing Mary Todd Lincoln in the Broadway play “Oh, Mary!” and winning a Tony Award. They have also appeared in television series such as “Search Party” on HBO Max and Hulu’s “Difficult People.”

The long road to Arabasta

For now, season 2 of ‘One Piece,’ which will premiere in March 2026, will take us through the arcs leading up to Luffy and company’s arrival in Arabasta, passing through Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garen, and Drum Island, as suggested by the episode titles for the season.

That Drum Island is home to Tony Tony Chopper, who, unlike the protagonists, who are flesh and blood, will be a computer-generated character. A logical decision considering the particularities of his design. At the moment, it has not been revealed whether the premiere will be a double episode with weekly releases, or the entire season at once, as the production company has done in the past. We will see what the coming weeks hold for the series.
