Overwatch reveals Sierra as its 51st hero, debuting alongside Season 2 of the revamped game
The new Damage hero arrives with a cinematic trailer and teases a drone-based ability kit.

Earlier this year, Blizzard Entertainment outlined a significant overhaul for Overwatch, introducing a name change, a redesigned seasonal structure, a more unified narrative approach, and a plan to release 10 new heroes over the course of the year. As the game’s first season under this new framework approaches its conclusion, Blizzard has now revealed the next playable character: Sierra.
Sierra is officially Overwatch’s 51st hero and joins the Damage class. Her introduction comes via a new animated trailer, which depicts her on a mission at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa. In the short, cinematic sequence, she is shown confronting another recently introduced hero, Emre. The trailer also offers an early look at parts of Sierra’s kit, including her deployable drone, DoROTHy, an assault rifle, and a dart-based ability that appears to function as a targeting or tracking tool.
A Fresh Take on Overwatch
We still have a lot to look forward to from Sierra, ranging from a story trailer to a video focused entirely on the characters’ abilities. We’ll likely see this in the following days. For now, it’s clear that Blizzard is keeping the promise it made earlier this year—a way to keep the game experience as fresh as possible nearly 10 years after its launch and how new content is introduced and contextualized within the game’s evolving narrative.
