If we had to choose our favorite Nintendo GameCube games, there are several titles that would quickly appear on the list: Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, Star Fox Adventures, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Twilight Princess... and of course, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which was just announced for Nintendo Switch at today’s Nintendo Direct., in which we have also seen surprises such as F-Zero 99, Mario vs. Donkey Kong and Princess Peach: Showtime!

The remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand -Year Door will arrive sometime in 2024, so we will have to wait to know the exact release date. What we can enjoy right now is the beautiful trailer full of nostalgia, in which we can appreciate the virtues of the original game: exploration, a turn-based combat system, scenarios full of secrets and Mario’s skills, which on this occasion could become a paper boat to navigate the seas and cardboard to cross through narrow gaps.

Nintendo Switch bets big on GameCube

Nintendo GameCube has more than 20 years of history behind it and although it was not one of the most successful consoles, it left us a fantastic catalog of games. And in the era of remastering and remakes, the Japanese company has already left us several of its improved titles on Nintendo Switch. Metroid Prime Remastered and Super Mario Sunshine (included in Super Mario 3D All-Stars) are some of the most notable.

The remastered versions with graphical improvements of Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, which arrived just a few months ago to the Nintendo Switch eShop, give us the possibility of completing the saga on the hybrid console, since they add to Pikmin 3 Deluxe and to the recent Pikmin 4. A perfect platform to enjoy one of the most original and creative franchises in Nintendo history.

Outside of GameCube, Nintendo 3DS has also begun to be taken into account, since last June a remaster of Luigi’s Mansion 2 (Dark Moon) was announced, a different delivery from the original game that left behind the design of a single scenario to focus on missions in different levels.
