PlayStation Network is down: When it will be up and why you can’t play video online or make purchases in the PS Store?

If you are a PlayStation Network user, probably, you are experiencing problems trying to connect to the service, managing your account or wanting to play like one should on a Friday afternoon. Apparently, you’re not the only one who’s having trouble hearing a new song or listening to your latest podcast, as all indications are that the service is down.
Users of PlayStation Network have been reporting problems for the last 2 hours, according to the Downdetector platform. The problems started around 4:50 pm (CT) this afternoon, but have increased over the past few hours. Below you can see how service issues have been reported to Downdetector:
Although PlayStation’s official Twitter / X account did not commented on the matter at the moment, they took their time to give an official update:
However, on the PlayStation Network support page, it says “Some services are experiencing issues”. These include Account Management, Gaming and Social, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct.
When will PlayStation Network be up and running again?
Given the importance of the application to the entertainment world and the blow to PlayStation Network’s image, the downtime should not last too long and it is likely to be a matter of minutes before they are back up and running.

There, the current crash has already accumulated more than a thousand reports.
