Pokémon GO gives away a new Master Ball: how to get it by completing all the tasks
A new Master Ball will arrive in Pokémon GO as part of another Masterwork Research that will allow us to obtain it by completing all its tasks.
As of Tuesday, May 14, 2024, a Masterwork Research will be available in Pokémon GO that will allow you to get a new Master Ball for free. In other words: Niantic has made another Master Ball available to all players, the ultimate Poké Ball that never fails and always catches every Pokémon. Of course, to get it, you have to complete all of the tasks available in Catching Wonders, which is what the new Masterwork Research is called.
How to get the Third Master Ball in Pokémon GO: Step-by-Step Guide
When we talk about the “third Master Ball” in Pokémon GO, we mean that the May 14, 2024 promotion is the third time that Niantic will make this ultimate Poké Ball available to all players. The first one was available in May 2023, and the second one was available in November of the same year. To obtain the new Pokémon GO Master Ball, you will need to log into the game at any time from May 14, 2024. A special icon will appear in the Research section; tapping it will add the Masterwork Research Catching Wonders to our Research list.
As in previous occasions, this will not give us the Master Orb directly, but we will have to complete all available tasks to obtain it. Of course, this is an untimed Masterwork Research, so once we get it, we can complete all the missions at our own pace without worrying about losing the Master Ball.
What Pokémon should we use the Master Ball in Pokémon GO?
The Master Ball allows you to catch any Pokémon after you throw it. Therefore, the most efficient way to use it is to catch Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, three very elusive Pokémon with a very low appearance rate and a very high escape probability that will only appear if we use a Daily Adventure Incense.
If we are lucky enough to come across one and have a Master Ball in our inventory, we can simply throw it and the Pokémon will be captured automatically thanks to the special animation of this supreme Poké Ball.

As you can see, this is quite a long list of tasks, but they are not particularly complex, so we will be able to complete them over several weeks or even months of normal play without too much worry.
Other Bonuses of the May 2024 Master Ball Event in Pokémon GO
As announced on the game’s official website, the following event bonuses will also be available from May 14, 2024 at 10:00 AM local time to May 19, 2024 at 8:00 PM local time:
- 10× XP awarded for your first catch of the day.
- 10× XP awarded for your first PokéStop or Gym spin of the day.
- 5× Stardust awarded for your first catch of the day.
