Pokémon TCG’s 30th Celebration set honors the past while looking to the future in an all foil set: What’s included and release date
The commemorative expansion features classic cards, new rarities, and 30 unique Pikachu designs.
Pokémon continues to plan the celebration, and the Trading Card Game isn’t about to be left behind. As we were told during Pokémon Presents earlier this year, the 30th anniversary will bring something very special with the 30th Celebration Expansion commemorative set. This set will be the first in 30 years of history to have a coordinated global release, meaning it will no longer be released months after its debut in Japan.
What makes the Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration Expansion set so special?
The set aims to be a nostalgic look back at the past 30 years in the world of the Trading Card Game. To start with, the collection will feature a total of 30 classic cards from past expansions, all representative of the game’s history—including the legendary launch card Charizard—each with a spectacular holographic design. As for the designs, all the cards will be holographic, and some designs will show the Pokémon in both daytime and nighttime scenes.
In addition, this set features a total of 30 unique holographic Pikachu cards, as well as a new rarity tier called “Futuristic rare card,” all illustrated by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN. The concept behind these cards is to present “in striking artwork evocative of hope toward an unknown future.”
In addition, each booster pack will include 5 holographic cards, 1 holographic Basic Energy card, and 1 card with a code for Pokémon TCG Live.
