Pragmata gets a new teaser, confirms indefinite delay

Capcom teases the mysterious Pragmata once again with a trailer showcasing mechs, combat, gameplay… and an indefinite delay.

The mystery grows larger and larger: Pragmata got a new trailer during the Capcom Showcase 2023 that gave fans of the company their first glimpse at gameplay, while at the same time announcing that the game has been delayed once again.

Originally announced for 2022, but then moved to 2023, now we know that the strange sci-fi title is moving up to an unknown date while the team at Capcom continues to work on it.

“It is with a heavy heart that we must further postpone the release of Pragmata,”says a message from the Pragmata Development Team at the end of the short trailer. “Our team is currently hard at work making the best game that we possibly can, but we need more time. We will continue to do our best to ensure that the final product is one that is worthy of your patience. Thank you for your continued support.”

This new IP has been an absolute mystery since its reveal back in 2020, and while we now know more about it, we have even more questions about it. Where is all of this happening? Why is the main character wearing a full astronaut’s suit? Is that tiny robot wearing a red cap?

In the original trailer we see the astronaut walking through an abandoned Times Square towards a little girl (who this trailer reveals is named Diana). Everything changes quickly when an asteroid breaks through the fake sky, launching both towards space and revealing that it was all happening in a dome on the surface of the moon. This new gameplay reminds us of the fast paced shooter action of titles like Platinum Games’ Vanquish, with maybe a little bit of Lost Planet’s mech combat thrown in for good measure.

We’ll have to wait and see what it’s all about when Capcom announces an official release date for Pragmata, which is still planned for launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
