Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown gameplay steals the show at Ubisoft Forward

The newest game in the saga (after 14 years), Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown showed off its gameplay and style at Ubisoft Forward 2023.

Update:
Prince of Persia The Lost Crown

Announced during Summer Game Fest 2023, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has now been shown off in more depth through the latest edition of Ubisoft Forward. This new installment of the franchise arrives 14 years after the last one, The Forgotten Sands, and will return to the series’ origins in two dimensions. The video allowed fans to see deeper into its proposal, in which platforming and fighting against all kinds of fantasy creatures are the pillars of the game.

Although it may not be the type of game fans expected, the game looks full of small details and care from the dev team. Prince of Persia The Lost Crown is coming to stores on January 18, 2024, and it will be available for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

What about the Prince of Persia Remake?

Even though they ended up being buried by the Assassin’s Creed franchise, the Prince of Persia games are among the most beloved and fondly remembered from the PlayStation 2 and GameCube era. The Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and The Two Crowns formed an outstanding action game trilogy. They had captivating aesthetics, an unforgettable story, and top-notch jumping and combat. Ubisoft announced a remake of the first title in 2021, but it looked so bad it had to be delayed And here we are, two years later.

The studio’s big mistake was putting two recently created studios (Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, both in India). There were so many complaints about the art and graphics of its first trailer that at the end they had to take it off the original developer’s hands and give it to its original managers, the team at Ubisoft Montreal. But of course, changes do not take place overnight. They require time and this Ubisoft Forward 2023 was too early for Montreal. In any case, we can only hope that they do justice to the story of Farah, the Prince and the Vizier.
