Rebel Moon gets a first trailer, aims to be Zack Snyder’s Star Wars

Zack Snyder’s next film, Rebel Moon, is a unique take on the Star Wars concept: from sword duels and spaceships, to rebels vs an empire.

We finally have the highly anticipated first trailer for Zack Snyder’s upcoming space opera, Rebel Moon. A film in which, we will have the action, the explosions, and the spectacular slow-motion moments the director of 300 and Watchmen is known for.

Described as Star Wars by way of the mind behind Sucker Punch and Man of Steel, Rebel Moon is coming to Netflix on December 22, 2023 and it will be the first of two films (the sequel will arrive on April 19, 2024). Following the strategy of the Dune adaptations by Villeneuve, with which Snyder will fight at the end of the year for being the big sci-fi premiere of the season.

What is Rebel Moon about?

The first synopsis of the film reads like this: “When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge.”

Intergalactic politics, terrifying organizations like, space battles, and powers like the ability to implant memories into other people’s minds. Of course, Rebel Moon aims to be a must-watch for sci-fi lovers.

Rebel Moon will have its own video game

Snyder’s film will be accompanied by, in the director’s own words, “an RPG of the same height”. The filmmaker previously confessed that he always wanted to make a role-playing game and it seems that this little thorn will also be removed with this project. Not much has been revealed about the game, but Snyder has insisted that he does not want to do “something casual” and he has always used the same adjectives to describe it: “huge” and “immersive”.
