The Redfall developers have confirmed that the game will only play at 30fps on consoles at launch, with the performance mode for 60fp released through later updates.

Update:
Redfall Xbox Series PC

Arkane Studios has confirmed the target resolution and framerate that Redfall will have at launch. On day one, the game will only have a single display mode, Quality Mode:4k and 30 fps on Xbox Series X y 1440p a 30 fps on Xbox Series S. The studio confirmed that a performance mode is on the way, which will allow the game to be played at 60fps at a resolution not yet confirmed. Sadly, it will be added “via game update at a later date”.

The news was shared in a short tweet that has taken the community by surprise, who expected to be able to play it at 60 fps from day one. No details where shared about how long players will have to wait, whether it will be a matter of days, weeks, or something else. What is clear is that at launch you will not be able to adjust the experience in technical terms.

We have already played Redfall

At MeriStation we were able to dive into a couple-hour demo just a few weeks ago. During the conclusions of the preview we said that we wanted to “keep playing and unwrapping its mysteries”. “Among the professionals present, we all agreed on that idea: the more you played, the more opportunities you discovered.”

That session was focused on the single player component of the title; the four-player co-op mode was not enabled. “Its makers define the game as a single-player experience that can be played cooperatively. We have the opposite feeling. After playing it, everything indicates that it is a cooperative title that can be played alone. It remains to be seen how it works together with three other players, although the structure suggests that it will be strengthened.

Redfall will release on May 2 exclusively for Xbox Series X | S and PC. Like the rest of the Microsoft Studios’ releases, it will be available on the Xbox Game Pass catalog from day one.
