Resident Evil 4 breaks records among the remakes of the saga: sells more than 3 million in two days
Capcom shares the sales figures of Resident Evil 4 Remake since its recent release on PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox X|S Series.
Resident Evil 4, the new version of the famous Capcom video game that has just hit stores in remake form, has surpassed 3 million units sold worldwide in just two days since its official launch last Friday, March 24, 2023. This has been shared by Capcom through an official statement celebrating the success of this new release for PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox X Series X|S. Moreover, the commercial success of the adventure of Leon S. Kennedy has managed to surpass the milestones of the previous remakes of the saga in the UK, as noted by GamesIndustry.
The sales success of Resident Evil 4 Remake
Capcom’s survival horror series has now sold more than 135 million units since its long-running debut in 1996 with the first PlayStation game. “Now, after more than 27 years, the continued support of passionate fans around the world has made Resident Evil the flagship video game series of Capcom,” as assured by the Japanese company.
On the other hand, GamesIndustry cites the strong reception of Resident Evil 4 in the UK market, outselling the original GameCube game from 2005 in its first days of commercial life. This is a record, as the two previous Resident Evil remakes (Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3) failed to outsell their respective original versions in their first days of release.
Despite these numbers, Resident Evil 4 had a physical release in the UK below Resident Evil 8 Village (23% less) and Resident Evil 2 Remake (38% less), although it surpassed Resident Evil 3 Remake by 38%. In this case, only physical copies are taken into account, so if digital copies were included, the figures would be more positive for the new Resident Evil 4, taking into account the continued growth of this format.
