Movies based on music stars are the order of the day, and the legendary film director Ridley Scott did not want to be left out of the trend, with news that he will be in charge of directing a biopic about the Bee Gees, the eternal British musical group. Deadline has reported that Ridley Scott is negotiating to direct a film about the Bee Gees, and although it is curious, there is a very particular bond between the group and the director, and almost 50 years after their first approach, the opportunity to do something about them has become a reality.

Ridley Scott has a very particular personal connection with the Bee Gees, because the musical group’s manager, Robert Stigwood, was a fundamental figure in his career as a director. Stigwood put Ridley Scott to work on ‘Castle Accident’, a medieval-set film starring Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb, the brothers of the Bee Gees group. Ultimately, the film did not come to fruition and Scott would end up directing ‘The Duelists’, his first film.

The incombustible Ridley Scott

Years go by and new trends appear in the film industry, but a constant for several decades is the figure of Ridley Scott. The filmmaker has created some of the most iconic sagas and films in the history of cinema in his almost 50-year career, and the feeling is that at 86 years of age, he does not intend to retire, with ‘Gladiator 2′ on the horizon and the aforementioned film about the Bee Gees.

Alien, ‘Blade Runner’, ‘Thelma & Louise’ and ‘Gladiator’ are some of his most notable films, but he has many more that are cinema history. An unrepeatable figure that makes people talk year after year with new releases in movie theaters.
