Roblox vs Fortnite: This game mode has broken a huge record between the two games

When we think about the titles that have reached the most players concurrently, we leave aside the ones we think are popular, and we look at Roblox and Fortnite. We cannot deny the great impact these games have had in terms of popularity: the first, for the possibility of creating different experiences for users, and the second, for its undisputed leadership in collaborations. And if we were to see which game has the largest number of players, we would be surprised.

Currently, Roblox is the title that has snatched the crown from Fortnite. While the game created by Epic Games managed to reach 15.3 million players during Marvel’s season finale in 2020, currently one of the experiences created on Roblox has surpassed it. And it’s not an extremely novel game, but a gardening game called Grow a Garden, which, according to third-party monitoring tools, reached 16 million concurrent users last weekend.

What is Grow a Garden on Roblox about?

According to its official description from developer The Garden Game, the game is precisely what its name suggests. It’s all about buying seeds, planting them, and waiting for crops like blueberries, coconuts, or daffodils to grow. The interesting thing is that these crops continue to grow even if the player is disconnected from the game. Once the crops are abundant, players can sell their produce for profit, buy more seeds, or purchase temporary upgrades that must be created in real time. And so the cycle repeats itself.

How does Grow a Garden compare to the rest of the industry?

With 16 million concurrent users, it’s clear that it’s a significant player in the industry. The record for a platform like Steam, counting all players connected to different games, is 40 million. That’s slightly more than twice the number of users on Grow a Garden. On this same platform, the record for players on a single title is held by PUBG with 3.3 million players. Perhaps there’s something relaxing about tending your garden in Roblox that we haven’t seen before.
