To celebrate the launch of Rocket Racing, Epic Games has released a trailer in which we are summarized in a very accurate way how this new and frenetic game mode is:

How to play Rocket Racing in Fortnite: Step-by-Step Guide
Rocket Racing is a new racing-focused game mode that first appeared in Fortnite on December 8, 2023. To play it, simply select it from the game modes menu.
If we have trouble finding it, we should see it in the “By Epic” section.
Once the game mode is selected, we have several options within it, including tracks of varying difficulty and even a complete and extensive tutorial that we recommend you play to get to know the controls and everything we can do.
Once we have chosen which Rocket Racing track or game mode we want to play, we simply start a game and we will travel to the selected map/track or game experience.
In addition to public and competitive games, we can also play private games with friends.
Fortnite is giving away a new theme for the launch of Rocket Racing
For logging in anytime after December 8 at 10:00 AM ET, all players will receive the new Lobby music called the Rocket Racing Theme. This item will be ours forever and we will be able to use it in all supported game modes.
New Rocket Racing Quests that will allow us to get XP for all modes
Rocket Racing comes with new quests that we can complete to gain experience that will be valid for all game modes, including Battle Royale. The quests are divided into several sets:
Fortnite gives away an outfit and a backpack by completing Rocket Racing quests
The Try Rocket Racing quest series allows us to unlock the new Jackie outfit and the new Dieselback back bling by completing the following quests:
Cars are new cosmetic items in Fortnite
The arrival of Fortnite Season 1 Fortnite Chapter 5 added car bodies and car decals as new cosmetic items. With the release of Rocket Racing, these items will be available for purchase in the Fortnite Store for the first time. We have new vehicles such as the Jäger 619, the Diesel or the Cyclone in the initial store.
As a curiosity, know that these are the most expensive cosmetic items in Fortnite, with packs worth up to 4,000 V-Bucks.
Bodies, decals, and wheels are cosmetic items that do not provide any competitive advantage.
Full compatibility between Fortnite and Rocket League
With the launch of Rocket Racing in Fortnite and that cars have arrived as new cosmetic items, a new possibility opens: car crossbuy between Fortnite and Rocket League.
This cross-platform ownership means that if we use the same Epic Games account to play Fortnite and Rocket League, we will be able to use the same car bodies, decals and wheels in both games. The number of compatible items between the two games will increase over time.
New Rocket Racing Ranked Mode in Fortnite
Rocket Racing also includes a competitive mode that is divided into seasons and allows us to earn a lot of XP and move up in rank:
As you progress through the qualifiers, you will also unlock more tracks of greater complexity. When we reach Diamond, we have access to all the tracks in Qualifying mode. Rank is reset from zero at the beginning of each new qualifying season.
