Ronaldinho and other football stars join Rematch: Sloclap’s next big hit
The creators of Sifu are shifting gears with Rematch, a fast-paced 5v5 arcade football game featuring legendary players.
Following the success of Sifu, developer Sloclap is diving into the world of arcade football with Rematch, a game that blends precision, teamwork, and spectacular plays.
Unlike EA Sports FC or eFootball, Rematch focuses on high-energy, skill-based gameplay, drawing inspiration from Rocket League rather than traditional football sims.
Ronaldinho leads the lineup of playable football legends
In a surprise announcement, Sloclap revealed that Ronaldinho Gaúcho, the legendary FC Barcelona icon, will be both an ambassador and a playable character in Rematch.
Joining him are:
- Marc-André ter Stegen – FC Barcelona’s star goalkeeper.
- Kobbie Mainoo – Manchester United’s rising talent.
Sloclap has hinted that more football stars will be added post-launch, making Rematch an exciting crossover between arcade football and real-world legends.
Behind-the-scenes with Ronaldinho
To celebrate the announcement, Sloclap released a behind-the-scenes video featuring Ronaldinho visiting the studio, meeting the developers, and testing his 3D character model.
His inclusion marks the first of many collaborations, with Sloclap teasing future partnerships with other football icons.
Rematch’s beta success and upcoming launch
After a highly successful closed beta with over 150,000 concurrent players, Rematch has now surpassed 2.5 million registered users for its open beta.
The game officially launches on June 19 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass.
