Update:

Until now, Ryan Gosling has not typically accepted roles in established franchises, but he has made an exception with Star Wars: Starfighter, one of the upcoming films in the saga. The actor will star in this film set in the post-sequel era, which has already finished filming.

In an interview with Gizmodo, the actor revealed why he decided to set aside his own golden rule to play his character in Star Wars: “It was Shawn’s [Levy, the director] enthusiasm and his vision and the script. And I just avoided these things because they never felt right. And I’m glad I did because I feel like, [similar to] a book like this, [it was] worth waiting for. And it is like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

The next film after ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’

Lucasfilm has not released a Star Wars film since ‘The Rise of Skywalker’, which hit theaters in 2019. Various film projects have suffered different fates, but there is now light at the end of the tunnel: ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ will mark the saga’s return to the big screen. Will the film satisfy fans? Disney itself has its doubts, but we will find out on May 21.

In addition to Ryan Gosling, ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ features actors such as Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, and Amy Adams. Its release date is scheduled for May 28, 2027.
