Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024: everything announced
Samsung has presented what they’re calling the “opening of a new era of AI” with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series and a new wellness device.
Samsung has just unveiled their upcoming family of Samsung Galaxy devices, including the new Galaxy S24 smartphone family and their own enhancements to Galaxy Health, all thanks to the power of AI.
All of this was revealed during their Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024 showcase, where they shared with the world the first official look at all of their new devices. With a big focus on AI, the company took the stage as a leader in empowering people to create new possibilities with new ways to connect people to create and simplify users’ lives.
Galaxy S24 Ultra: AI helping people
Samsung began by demonstrating the use of AI to help people translate. The company believes that “language can be a barrier,” but using AI can help when traveling or just communicating. At launch, Galaxy S24 Ultra users will be able to translate up to 13 languages either in text messages or on a call with Live Translate. The goal is to make the smartphone our personal interpreter on the go.
Another use of this AI will be on the road, literally, with the use of Android Auto. The AI will also summarize group messages, while also suggesting replies and sharing ETAs so that users can keep their attention on the road.
On the production side of Samsung’s AI, Notes can summarize lectures and meetings, create transcripts, and even translate if someone speaks a different language. Samsung Notes will help organize notes and improve text entry to create different summaries.
Hiroshi Lockheimer, senior vice president of platforms at Google, took the stage to announce how Google Cloud and the Gemini service will help with Samsung’s AI services. AI will help search within Samsung apps with “Circle to Search”. With a simple gesture and without switching apps, you can circle, highlight or tab anything on your screen to search with Google, simplifying the way people search without jumping between apps. This will be available on all three Galaxy S24 series.
On the creativity side, Samsung showed how the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series will show new ways to create with its AI-powered camera. The main focus was the 5X optical zoom with a 50MP sensor will help deliver up to 10X zoom without losing detail, creating a 12MP without losing image. The AI will help to create high quality photos. AI will also help analyze images and recognize details to create a tone adjustment and detail enhancement among other improvements to the image. In low light, AI will help create images that are ready for social media, with an alliance with Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat to create the first HDR-enabled photos on Instagram. AI will also help provide solutions for photos to improve tone and effects.
In terms of video, it will also help us create slow motion video in high resolution without having to shoot it that way. AI will generate the images to create the missing frames and create the slow motion video.
Mr. Beast is part of the Samsung Galaxy event
For a moment, YouTuber MrBeast took the stage to show a short video showing all the crazy tests he did with the new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. This video showed the AI-powered camera, with showing how it works, with zooming, sharing and AI tests.

Along with the new AI improvements, Samsung took the time to show how the new Smasung Galaxy S24 series has improved over last year’s model. On the NPU side, it is the fastest created for the Galaxy family, becoming 41% faster than last year’s, with a CPU and GPU with a 20% and 30% better performance.
In terms of gaming, there’s been a focus on the ray tracing module of the GPU, making it 30% faster to create the most hyper-realistic mobile games. The company has also worked on heat dissipation around the NPU to prevent sudden temperature spikes and maintain optimal device performance. This is supported by a maximum battery of 5000 mAh and a display of up to 6000 nits.
On the design side, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the most durable smartphone yet for the company, using titanium for the first time while the rest of the series will use armor aluminum. Along with it, the toughest Gorilla Glass yet, Corning Gorilla Armor, with magical anti-reflective properties will help users have the most durable screen.

Galaxy S24 series pricing and availability
The Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra go on pre-order today, starting at $799, $999 and $1,299 respectively, the latter $100 more than last year’s model. All models will be available on January 31st.
Galaxy Health to create personalized health monitoring
Galaxy Health has received some improvements, powered by AI to create a better wellness experience.
The AI will work with the Samsung Ecosystem to help and create better sleep analysis, even detecting HR Alerts during sleep. It will also detect sleep apnea with the help of Samsung smartwatches. Medication tracking will help remind you to take a medication and possible interactions with other medications or even your food. Samsung Health will also be able to give users a vitality score based on sleep and other activities. This will help users set better health goals to improve daily wellness.
Samsung Health also introduced a new device, the Galaxy Ring.
