Samsung Galaxy Unpacked January 2025: everything announced, from innovation in AI to the Galaxy S25 series
The company introduced the new Galaxy devices and their new technology coming in 2025, as well as how AI will be integrated as a critical part of everyday tasks.

Following its AI-focused presentation at CES 2025, Samsung returned to the stage to unveil its new Galaxy smartphones. TM Roh, President & Head, MX Business, opened the event by promising a new standard for mobile AI with the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series.
Galaxy AI + Google Gemini
The new Galaxy S25 series introduces a more intuitive interface with AI at its core. In collaboration with Google, Samsung introduces a more responsive and fluid ecosystem.
Galaxy AI grows and all the activities we learned about last year are expanded. AI Select allows you to capture details on the screen, offer summaries, or improve your style in various activities; for example, with photos, you can create new images. Circle to Search has been expanded to include phone, email, and even music you hear in a video. AI Browse now makes it easier to export images to your contacts.

Samsung has emphasized how voice commands will work with this new and improved system, even allowing the phone to offer a new viewing mode by saying “we have eye strain”.
Every morning, Galaxy AI greets you with the ‘Now Brief’, giving you all the information you need about your day, from the weather to events on your calendar, and even the time you need to leave to get to those meetings. The ‘Now Bar’ will now give you the information you need without interrupting you.

Another important element mentioned is the Personal Data Engine, which organizes the information in a knowledge graph and understands the user’s usage patterns to provide more personalized information. Previously, this data was limited to specific applications, but with the Knowledge Graph, in addition to the experience gained with the rest of its smart devices, Samsung can apply this information in an integrated way for the user.
Google Gemini is partnering with Samsung to bring Gemini Live to the Galaxy S25, enabling screen sharing and live video, with which the AI can see and give feedback to users. Activation will be the same as always, with the push of a button. It works to make it easier and easier to use Google between apps, and now connects to Samsung apps without any problems. Gemini will allow you to search and create notes from them. To give you a taste, the new Galaxy series comes with 6 months of Gemini Advance.
A customized chipset
Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, a 3nm processor designed specifically for Galaxy, is the engine behind the series. It offers a performance increase of 40% in NPU, 37% in CPU and 30% in GPU compared to the previous generation, enabling a smoother gaming experience.
Among the details revealed, the Galaxy S25 series is said to feature ProScaler, an advanced AI image processing that enhances on-screen images and achieves a 40% improvement in image scaling quality. The Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy also features the Vulkan engine and enhanced ray tracing. In terms of design, it features an improved heat dissipation architecture with a 40% larger vapor chamber than the previous model.
Improved photography
This time, Samsung promises more depth in the cameras, with an object-aware engine that recognizes all the elements and details, from the objectives of the image, the light and other parameters to deliver a better image. Among the improvements for content creation at the system level we find:
- Virtual aperture allows you to move the camera’s aperture. You can also use previous photos to create filters that use the colors and lighting to create new images.
- Nightography comes to video, allowing for better noise reduction in videos.
- Log Video will allow you to capture a wider dynamic range, so you can record better videos with less weight.
- Audio Eraser lets you edit audio directly from your smartphone, so you can filter out details like wind and improve audio.
Meet the Samsung Galaxy Series 25
And that brings us to the unveiling of the devices. The Galaxy S25 Ultra stands out for being the thinnest and lightest yet in the series. Also the most durable, integrating resistant titanium and the new Corning Gorilla Armor 2, allowing a more durable device without leaving aside the quality of the screen.
