Update:

Scooby-Doo will be back on our screens very soon. Netflix announced that production on its new live-action series, ‘Scooby-Doo Origins,’ began this week in Atlanta, and to celebrate, it shared the first official look, featuring the main cast dressed as the Scooby Gang.

In the photo, we see Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake, Tanner Buchanan as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, who were cast in these roles in early March. Unfortunately, there’s no first look at Scooby, though a paw print can be seen on the door.

What will Scooby-Doo Origins be about?

As the name suggests, it’s an origin story that will introduce us to the characters before they first climb into the Mystery Machine. “During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder,” read the official synopsis. “Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange but ever-so-handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”

The series was originally announced in March 2025, and at the time, it was confirmed that the first season would consist of eight episodes. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg will serve as showrunners for the project. As of now, Scooby-Doo Origins does not yet have a confirmed release date. For now, don’t miss the remaining new releases on Netflix this month.
