Scott Pilgrim returns with first new comic in 16 years, ‘Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott’
Bryan Lee O’Malley announced the one-shot prequel to Scott Pilgrim EX during San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
Scott Pilgrim is returning to print, 16 years after the series ended with ‘Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour’. The announcement was made by the series’ creator, Bryan Lee O’Mailley, during the Oni Press panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
The title of the comic in question will be ‘Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott,’ which will be a one-shot prequel to the franchise’s most recent video game, Scott Pilgrim EX, and will be available starting November 15. “When I was asked to create a minicomic for Scott Pilgrim EX, I quickly said yes without considering the implications,” O’Malley said in a statement. “Only when I started writing and drawing it did I realize this would be the first new Scott Pilgrim comic in 16 years. It’s only a trifle, but returning to Scott’s Toronto really did feel like coming home.”
Along with the announcement, the official description of ‘Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott’ was also released: “Scott met Ramona. Sparks flew. The two of them had to work together in order to defeat Ramona’s Seven Evil Exes and their nefarious leader, Gideon Gordon Graves. Some other stuff happened in various media formats that may or may not be canon. That’s all in the past. These days, Scott and Ramona are a happy couple, and the Exes have moved on from their unhealthy obsessions. I guess they all got therapy or whatever. Now, after a period of peace, a new threat is about to emerge. Are our heroes ready? Let’s find out!!!”
